Ztek’s High Performance Steam Reformers (HPSR) will convert natural gas, ethanol or diesel, to hydrogen approaching 80 percent efficiency, meaning that 80% of the energy contained in the fuel will be converted into useful hydrogen. HPSR-600H will produce 600 standard cubic feet of hydrogen (scfh) per hour while HPSR-4000H will produce 4000 scfh per hour. Each individual model will fit in a 3’ by 6’ by 10’ or a 10’ by 10’ by 10’ space respectively. This size will allow easy integration into existing or equivalent fueling stations and will give station owners tremendous flexibility in scaling the size of their hydrogen supply. Ztek reformers also will enable true zero-emissions operation by allowing for the separation and sequestration of carbon dioxide, the only by-product of its fuel-to-hydrogen conversion.

Ztek’s HECP system is available in two models. The first will produce 300 standard cubic feet of hydrogen(scfh)per hour with 10kW of electricity. The second will produce 2000 scfh per hour with 75kW of electricity. Each model is highly integrated, fully balanced and optimally efficient in design and construction. Unlike other energy stations in development that use discrete systems, e.g. separate reformer, purification, and fuel cell components, this system will be delivered in a space saving, single-enclosure, low cost framework. The operation of the system will be capable of load following to accommodate various usage conditions and maximize economic value. For example, during peak demand hours for power or low demand periods for hydrogen, the system will maximize electricity output and idle hydrogen production and vice versa.

Ztek Corporation is producing solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) systems for distributed electrical generation applications with or without the capability to provide heating and air conditioning. All models will provide low-cost, clean and efficient energy production. The 25E offers 25kW of electrical output and fits in a 3’ by 6’ by 10’ space. The 100E combines a SOFC with a gas turbine for distributed generation applications. Replacing the combustor of a traditional microturbine with a high temperature solid oxide fuel cell will allow system efficiency to reach 60 percent and reduce greenhouse emissions by 50%. The unit is compact, fitting in a 10’ by 10’ by 10’ space. Both units can be run on natural gas, ethanol or gasoline.
